Compressed hydrogen storage

Hydrogen is a light gas, it is useful to compress it to store it in a small volume.

MAHYTEC is specialized in the design and manufacturing of type 4 tank.

 They have the advantage of being light and are therefore perfect for mobile or nomadic applications but can also advantageously be used for stationary storage of large volume.

 The compressed hydrogen is stored in a tank composed of a polymer liner and a composite structure that supports the mechanical forces.

Filament winding is a technique that aims to optimally strengthen the liner with long fiber composites to allow the casing to withstand high pressure.

Product : Hydrogen tank 60bar – 850L

Our 850 L tank can store about 4,2kg hydrogen at 60bar. Coupled with an electrolyzer, the generated hydrogen can be directly stored without compression. This Type 4 tank is 3 times lighter than its equivalent in steel, which makes it ideal for applications on remote locations.

Application: Refuge du parc National de la Vanoise

At the Col du Palet 2600 m high, above the city of Tignes, MAHYTEC in collaboration with its partners, POWIDIAN, GEST’HYDROGENE, WAECHTER ENERGIES, is implementing its expertise to offer a suitable solution of hydrogen storage.
Two H2 tanks with a working pressure of 30bar and a volume of 850l each, i.e 4.5 kg hydrogen in total will allow the refuge of the Col du Palet to give up their fuel generator and switch to clean energy in line with the environment.
These tanks lighter than their steel counterparts, could easily be helicopter-borne.
MAHYTEC was responsible for the entire hydrogen chain and subcontracted with Powidian.

 This 300-liter internal volume tank can store about 10kg hydrogen at 525bar. This Type 4 tank is the perfect match for hydrogen refilling stations or for gas transportation.

Application: Vhyctor project

The aim is to offer a new hydrogen distribution solution for mobility. This project makes it possible to enhance hydrogen co-produced massively and then to distribute it in simplified stations. The hydrogen is stored under high pressure in hydrogen storage tanks designed and adapted to facilitate transport. The project plans to optimize the distribution mode by centralizing the compression, which would reduce the costs of setting up a station with the possibility of changing it according to each request, thus facilitating its deployment.

Application: tank assembly for fuel cell vehicle

MAHYTEC provides 700bar tank assembly including tank, tank valve, pressure regulator, up to low-pressure interface. We adapt to customer requests to provide turnkey solutions.
These systems can then be installed in hydrogen vehicles: light vehicles, boats, etc.
